Day 1. Thursday Los Mochis- El Fuerte
This tour starts in Los Mochis. We can easily arrange you the bus ticket to Los Mochis or flight via Mexico City ( flight recommended due to distance). Do you prefer to drive yourself? Let us know, we will arrange you secluded parking for the whole trip. Upon arrival at the bus station or airport, a staff host will meet you for your courtesy shuttle (about one hour) to the Colonial town of El Fuerte, founded in 1564. This place is very famous, as it is the birthplace of Señor Diego de la Vega, better known as “El Zorro”. El Fuerte is the “gateway” to the Copper Canyon. You will check into the hotel Posada del Hidalgo. We recommend you to do one of the following activities; (not included)

  • Take a river cruise, down El Fuerte River. This is an excellent place for bird watching
  • Take a tour to see the ancient petroglyphs
  • Take a tour to the old Mayo Indian Village, where you can see how they make their pottery and you might see some of their traditional dances

Or relax and stay in the hotel with its nice courtyards/pool or have a massage.

Day 2. Friday El Fuerte – Cerocahui

You have the morning off in El Fuerte. Breakfast and lunch are included at the hotel, and right after lunch we bring you to the train station. And then,
time to board the train!!  The Copper Canyon is about 4 times bigger than the Grand Canyon, and the famous Chepe Train will take you via tunnels and over bridges from sea level to 7.200 feet. It took over 100 years to construct this railroad, and is truly an engineering marvel. In the afternoon you will arrive at the Bahuichivo train station, where you will be greeted for your stay at the Mision Hotel in the town of Cerocahui. We will check you in at the hotel. After check in we recommend to  visit the girls Tarahumara school, next door. Ask the reception about this, since this is truly a highlight of the trip, donations are highly appreciated! Dinner at the hotel, don´t forget to try the house wine!

Day 3. Saturday: Cerocahui – Barrancas (hotel Mirador)

Day 4: Sunday: tour to Creel, the Valley of the Monks and the Valley of the mushrooms.

This is a fantastic day tour to see more of the Canyons other than the lookout points. Today we take you on a shared tour to the Magic Village of Creel and the surroundings. breakfast/lunch and dinner are included today. Second night at the Mirador hotel.

Day 5. Monday: Barrancas – Los Mochis

From El Fuerte we will give you a transfer to Los Mochis, where you will stay one night in the Santa Anita Hotel.
