Not into group tours? No problem! How about an individual package to the Copper Canyon where we arrange your traintickets, hotels and all your local transfers. All you have to do is enjoy!
Day 1. Monday Los Mochis- El Fuerte
This tour starts in Los Mochis. We can easily arrange you the bus ticket to Los Mochis or flight via Mexico City. Do you prefer to drive yourself? Let us know, we will arrange you secluded parking for the whole trip. Upon arrival a staff host will meet you for your courtesy shuttle (about one hour) to the Colonial town of El Fuerte, founded in 1564. This place is very famous, as it is the birthplace of Señor Diego de la Vega, better known as “El Zorro”. El Fuerte is the “gateway” to the Copper Canyon. You will check into the hotel Posada del Hidalgo. In El Fuerte you will have the rest of the afternoon off. We recommend you to do one of the following activities; (not included)
Or relax and stay in the hotel with its nice courtyards/pool or have a massage.
Day 2. Tuesday El Fuerte – Cerocahui
Time to board the train!! Enjoy an early American breakfast (around 7am). After breakfast you will be transported to the train station at El Fuerte (about 15 minutes). The train will leave around 8.30am. The Copper Canyon is about 4 times bigger than the Grand Canyon, and the famous Chepe Train will take you via tunnels and over bridges from sea level to 7.200 feet. It took over 100 years to construct this railroad, and is truly an engineering marvel. Around 12.30pm you will arrive at the Bahuichivo train station, where you will be greeted for your stay at the Mision Hotel in the town of Cerocahui. We will check you in and will get ready for lunch. After lunch you have the opportunity to see the waterfalls (not included), see how wine is made in the hotel´s own winery, or visit the girls Tarahumara school. This is truly a highlight of the trip, donations are highly appreciated! Dinner at the hotel, don´t forget to try the house wine!
Day 3. Wednesday Cerocahui – Barrancas
Right after breakfast we take our first tour of the day in where you will ride along a road (by van or bus) that will take you to 7,500 feet at the Gallego Lookout Point to appreciate the grandeur of the Urique Canyon, the deepest of all canyons. Bring extra batteries for your camera! After that we take a Van or bus for a ride with beautiful landscapes, amazing views on the way, to the Mirador Hotel (5 min). Check-In. In the afternoon you can take a walking tour to the caves where the Tarahumara indigenous people live (not included) or go horse riding. . Dinner is served in the panoramic restaurant of the hotel.
Day 4. Thursday Barrancas – Los Mochis
This morning you will take our transportation to The Balancing Rock, 3 Canyons Overlook Point included, so bring your camera and have it ready!! There is time to go with the cable car, which we highly recommend. This is an experience at Copper Canyon that you cannot miss! After this tour you will recieve a transfer to the train station and you will enjoy again the beautiful scenery on the way back to El Fuerte. From El Fuerte we will give you a transfer to Los Mochis, where you will stay one night in the Santa Anita Hotel.
Day 5. Friday Los Mochis – Puerto Vallarta
After breakfast we bring you back to the airport bus station where you can take your transportation to Vallarta, or to Mazatlan and extend there. End of our services.
